Jimmy Jean-Louis To Host AMAA Awards



The main host of the 2012 edition of the African Movie Academy Awards, will be the Haitian actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis. He was born in Pétion-Ville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.


He left Haiti for Paris at the age of 12. Earlier in is career, Jimmy worked as a dancer and a model in France, Spain, Italy, South Africa and England.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to pursue an acting career, his credits include Tears of the Sun (Bruce Willis), Phat Girlz (Mo’Nique), Diary of a Tired Black Man, and the NBC hit show, Heroes.

He recently shot his most important role to date, when he portrayed Toussaint Louverture – an effort for which he won the award for Best Actor at PAFF 2012. He appeared with Yemi Blaq and Ama K Abebrese in the 2011 movie, Sinking Sands by Leila Djansi
