Angola seek Eagles friendly

The Angola Football Federation is seeking for a friendly match with the Super Eagles in preparation for their World Cup qualifier against Uganda on June 1 at the November 11 Stadium in Luanda.

The Angolans have proposed May 15 for the game just as they hope to play Macedonia on May 29 in Lisbon, Portugal. The Palancas Negras and the Eagles met in a friendly tie in Abuja in January where they played a goalless draw.

But the new proposal has yet to reach the Nigeria Football Federation. Nigeria are preparing for a May 23 friendly game with Peru in Lima before facing Namibia on June 1 in a World Cup qualifier.

An NFF official on Thursday could not confirm if the Angolan proposal had been received in Abuja but said it might be too late to start a hasty preparation for another friendly game. “May 15 is just a few days away and I’m not aware of friendly with Angola.

What we are doing now is to concentrate on the friendly with Peru on May 23 and the qualifiers coming up in June,” the official said.
