Star Trek: D’Banj leads way to Benin

As Star Trek moves to Benin, Edo State on Friday, fun lovers are due for a great time with D’Banj as the headlining act. Also performing there are Flavour, Sound Sultan and Tiwa Savage.

On Saturday, Flavour, Ice Prince, Sound Sultan, Omawunmi, Waje, M.I and Da Beat, 2011 winners of Star Quest will also feature on stage. Last week, Ejigbo, Lagos, hitherto known by many outside the city for a plane crash that occurred there about 20 years ago, hosted several stars who performed at the Lagos end of Star Trek.

On stage were Wande Coal, J. Martins, 9ice and others. The night kicked off with music and dancing from music supplied by the DJ Switch. With Segun Ogundipe aka Laff Up as compere, the audience had a great time dancing to the songs. Laff Up may well be renowned as a rising comedian but he certainly showed that he was at home with the Star Trek crowd as a compere.

It featured a dancing competition, an open mic session, the star artistes gave a an impressive account of themselves, especially as re-allignment currently going on in the industry is inspiring practitioners to sharpen their wit.

The organizers note in a statement that the Ilesha leg of Star Trek was also interesting. “Gbenga Adeyinka, compere for the Ilesha leg, did a yeoman’s job of wowing the crowd that trooped to the Zenabab Hotels and Resorts, venue of the event.

The homegrown talents that performed were G-Boy, Fairy, X-Kolex and S-Dac. Others were Street Pastor, Lastborn G, Yoga, T Wayne, CY, Icons, Samola, Pundit, Ojo and JJ Razor, a dancer,” they note
