Google owner visits Nigeria


Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State last week hosted the Chairman of Google, Eric Schmidt who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House. 



Schmidt who had earlier visited Kenya before coming to Nigeria was accompanied by Google Ideas Director, Jared Cohen and Country Manager, Google Nigeria, Juliet Ehimuan Chiazor amongst others. They discussed with Fashola on information and communications technology to drive growth in various sectors of the Nigerian economy. 

On the side of Lagos government were Fashola, Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Obafemi Hamzat as well as the Commissioner for Science and Technology Adebiyi Mabadeje among others. .

Google’s Chairman also paid a visit to the mainframe studio of renowned Nigerian filmmaker, Tunde Kelani where they both discussed the challenges facing Nigeria’s creative industries.
