Pirates should be treated as criminals

Nollywood actor and Deputy President, Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts, Dele Odule, has called on both the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) and National Film and Video Censors Board to be more dedicated in their fight against piracy in the country.

Speaking on Sunday in Ilorin, Odule expressed concern over the high rate of piracy in the entertainment industry, and suggested that pirates should be treated as criminals.
"Anyone caught violating the piracy law should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others," Odule said.
He called on the government to provide the appropriate conducive environment for those in the film Industry adding that "this will help them to display their talents as being practised in the advanced countries".
Odule said such a conducive environment could be in the form of supporting actors on locations with logistics to enhance their productivity.
He has starred in popular Yoruba movies including Olorun Owu, Ikantoku and Ori Bakan.
