The largest music and media conference in America, South by Southwest Music and Media Conference (SXSW) over the weekend appointed Obi Asika, CEO of Storm 360 Records as a speaker and panellist for its forthcoming Music and Media conference.
The South by Southwest is an iconic event. Through this means, Obi Asika working closely with Spinlet where he sits on the advisory board is together creating for the first time, a showcase for Nigerian and African artists and is continuing the push to bring the urban sounds of Africa to the mainstream western platform.
Obi says, "We are now entering the next phase of the push and as we continue to engage the major markets we hope to learn about technology which will aid us in combating piracy; relationships which will enable us to monetize our content and those who will give our content access to the global markets.” He continued, “Our content is world class but we need a global push to enable the world to hear and feel us and hopefully Corporate Nigeria and Africa will come along for the ride.
These are seminal moments for the Nigerian and African Music Industry and all I can say is get ready world, the Africans are coming.”This edition of the SXSW music event is billed to hold between 13th and 18th March 2012 at the Austin Convention Centre, Austin, Texas.
The SXSW Music and Media Conference is a legendary festival showcasing more than 1,800 musical acts of all genres from around the globe on over eighty stages in downtown Austin, Texas. By day, the Austin Convention centre comes alive with conference registrants doing business in the Trade Show and partaking of a full agenda of informative, provocative panel discussions featuring hundreds of speakers of international stature. In its 23rd year, SXSW remains an essential event on the music industry calendar.
Notables acts to feature in this edition include Against Me!, Grace Potter and the Nocturnal, Cloud Nothings, Thee Oh Sees, VHS or Beta, Yukon Blonde amongst other artistes
