Project Fame winners emerge tomorrow
Tomorrow, Saturday, one hitherto unheralded talent would walk away from Ultima Studios, Lekki, Lagos, venue of the final of MTN Project Fame West Africa season 4, with N2.5million cash, a brand new Toyota Rav 4 and a record deal in his kitty.
The lucky contestant will most importantly walk away with enough training, confidence and sharpened stage craft to compete favourably among Nigeria’s leading music stars. But it won’t be a walk over for the eventual winner as the other contestants are not about to balk on the threshold of their glory.
About 10 weeks ago, 17 youths drawn from countries in West Africa were admitted into the Project Fame Academy. As the weeks rolled by, those with low votes, not necessarily inferior talents, were evicted. Now, only six of those who began that eventful journey which was preceded by a grand opening ceremony at the Eko Hotel, Lagos with American R n B star, Brandy as lead act, are left.
The lucky six include Yvonne, Roy, Ruth, Ethel, Monica and Ese. Last weekend, spared of the pressure of probation or eviction, the finalists, joined by the Playhouse Choir, gave applause-worthy performances of various carol songs in the spirit of the season. Thereafter, they rendered their own personal compositions which earned them good reviews from the judges.
Commenting on the performances, one of the judges, TY Mix, says, "There are evidences to prove that you guys have improved tremendously from the time you got to the academy to this time. Your personal compositions are also indications to this fact. The arrangements were good, the lyric were really on point, your song writing skills are great and delivery is very good too."
The finalists would need more than these flowery words to breast the tape tomorrow.
