As Kennis Music celebrates Easter

For the first time ever, the 14th edition of the annual Kennis Music Easter fiesta which took place at the GET arena and the Elegushi beach resort respectively ran for a period of four days, from Good Friday through to Easter Monday.

The aim was not lost on guests. It was basically to spice up things and give people the option to choose which day best suits them to enjoy the music spectacle.
Snippets from the Good Friday show:

W4 and his special plate number
Dance hall crooner, Wale Adepoju who goes by the stage name, W4 and whose style of dressing is Fela inspired, cruised into GET arena with his latest acquisition, his N4m Chrysler. What perhaps got the diminutive singer, who is set to launch his clothing line, well noticed even before he mounted the stage was his specialised plate number, ‘Wa gba,’ coined from his hit single, Wa gba control.

Doris Simeon steps out without hubby
Ever since the sad and unfortunate news about the alleged break up of what used to be one of the most envied marriages in the Nigerian entertainment industry, Edo State born Yoruba actress, Doris Simeon-Ademinokan has maintained silence. This is even after her husband, talented movie director, Daniel, issued a statement to that effect. She also shunned most social gatherings. But for the first time since the tale surrounding her marriage broke out, the mother of one made a surprise appearance at the music fiesta, garbed in a jungle print dress and generally looking happy and at peace with herself.

Low turnout and lack lustre performances
The Friday event was characterised by a low turnout of guests made even worse by the organisers’ inability to provide enough seats for guests. Also, some of the performances, to say the least bit, lack lustre. Even though most of the performers did their best to bring down the roof, they failed to ignite the fire that most of the guests expected. Only DJ Jimmy Jatt and a coalition of other DJs present successfully did that.

Keke’s forlorn look
Keke, as Kehinde Ogungbe, the head honcho at Kennis music is fondly called, was seen pacing up and down the arena in the company of his protégé, London returnee, Shy Shy Shyllon, assessing the situation of things and generally trying to keep up a happy face. But on a few occasion, he had a forlorn look on his face, obviously as a result of the low turnout of guests.

Goldie and her costume
The controversial singer didn’t disappoint many with her outlandish outfits. In fact many looked forward to seeing what she would adorn herself in. And her male dancers? They tried too hard to mimic British police officers!
