Wale signs with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music

For those who care….rapper Wale (Olubowale Folarin) recently took to twitter to confirm he is now signed with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Maybach Music is currently in the middle of a major bidding war between Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, Birdman’s Cash Money, Lyor Cohen‘s Warner Music Group and Jimmy Iovine‘s Interscope-Geffen-A&M. May the best label win! His debut album Attention Deficit dropped in late 2009, and even with a Lady Gaga feature (Chillin’) it moved only 28k in it’s 1st week. Hopefully the move to Maybach and his management deal with Jay Z’s RocNation may just be what he needs to crossover successfully to a mainstream audience.

After the jump, check out the video for “My Sweetie” a bonus track off his debut album, “Attention Deficit”. I guess it didn’t make the album because the Nigerian culture of the song didn’t fit in with then label’s (Interscope) idea of mainstream American hip-hop…clearly that move didn’t help the album’s mediocre sales figures.

The song is sampled from, “My Sweetie My Sugar” by Bunny Mack.
