Essence begs for shows

Gospel artiste turned Hip op singer Essence bared her mind at a recent function and without regrets openly begged promoters to enlist their services whenever concerts are organised.

Speaking at the listening party of gospel musician Anny’s sophomore album, she said “On behalf of female artistes, please help us tell promoters that we can also rock shows. Let them not think that we are making enough money through CD sales.
We need to make more money from concerts too. Tell them to give us shows because we can also perform on stage.”

Essence a special guest at the event, had attended with a couple of gospel artistes including Sammie Okposo and Eva.

She complained bitterly at the level of neglect suffered by female artistes especially in the hands of promoters whom she accused them of being weak and unable jump around on stage to entertain audiences at shows like their male counterparts

“It is not true we cannot do what the guys do on stage, we can and even better, Secondly you can’t do good shows without the female artistes.

We too have bills to pay. We have to make our hair, do our nails, buy cosmetics, clothes and we also have people we take care of. They must let us have access to our fans via concerts” she lamented.

Uwale Okoro, popularly known as Essence, made her first appearance in Kenny Saint-Brown’s video, Heaven Came Down. As soon as the video hit the airways, it became the toast of music lovers and launching her into stardom.
