Yeka zooms off to SA



Winner of the first season of the Nigerian Idol Yeka Onka and the first runner-up Naomi Mac begin their journey into celebrity lifestyle in a grand way as Pepsi, the official beverage of the just concluded Nigerian Idol reality TV show has ensured that the by sponsoring them to an all expense paid weekend trip to the rainbow country of South Africa.


“Pepsi as a youthful, exciting and refreshing brand is proud to be associated with the Nigerian Idol which is a platform to harness the talent and energy of the Nigerian youth while providing fun for both the contestants and viewers at home,” Mr. Mani Siddhartha said.

He said that through the Pepsi web Idol, an online fans site, hundreds of fans all over Nigeria were able to win fantastic Pepsi prizes such as Ipod, T-shirts, etc by taking video of their performances with their mobile phones or any other recording device and uploaded on the website for the judges to pick good performances.
Besides, Mr Siddhartha said the Pepsi Fans Idol which was won by Ola, one of the evicted contestants is a way for Pepsi to give the evicted contestants another chance to make hay and also involve audience fully in the show.

Apart from the trip to South Africa, the Nigerian Idol winner and other contestants were given Pepsi branded chillers (freezers) and will get free supply of refreshing Pepsi products in the months to come.
Both Yeka Onka winner of the Nigerian Idol and Naomi Mac, first runner-up were ecstatic about the trip to South Africa and expressed their appreciation to Pepsi for giving them a dream holiday trip to Mandela’s country where they will visit interesting and historic places.
