Dagrin may be dead and gone but the memory of him lives on as Stingomania Records and Misofunyi Entertainment has teamed up to host a state of the heart carnival in his memory.

The Dagrin Memorial Carnival billed for Thursday, 21st of April at the National Stadium (Gymnasium hall) is expected to feature some of the hottest young stars in the Nigerian entertainment industry and a Candlelight procession to honor the memory of Dagrin on the eve of the first anniversary of his death. Some of the superstars already scheduled to perform include Olamide, Dj Zeez, Naeto C, KSB, Jaywon, YQ, Goldie, Edreez Abdulkareem, Sheyman, General Pype, Trybson Dudukoko, Baba Nee, Kas, Flavour, and Obesere PK1st and others.

The memorial will also include awards for the Best Dagrin Look-alike, Best Dagrin Tribute Song, Best Dagrin Collabo Song and Best Dagrin Collabo Video, Best Yoruba Rap, Best English Rap Artiste, Best Upcoming Hip-hop Artiste and Best Upcoming Entertainer OF THE YEAR.

A sneak preview of the much awaited movie ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ starring Trybson Dudukoko as Dagrin, Doris Simeon, Pa Kasumu, Rachael Oniga, Gabriel Afolayan and a host of other stars and scheduled to be premiered on the 22nd of April 2011 will be shown to the audience at the carnival.

Mr Ope Banwo, the MD/CEO of Stingomania Entertainment who is putting this together in collaboration with Dagrin’s father as the CEO of Misofunyin Entertainment and KSB as Consultant explained that this is a natural progression for him when it comes to immortalizing the name of Dagrin for posterity as a stakeholder in the entertainment business. According to him “A Dagrin anniversary, particularly the first one, cannot be complete without his colleagues gathering together to salute him in the language he understand best which is music….a carnival like this also gives his contemporaries a platform to express themselves on an annual basis. We are therefore happy to be working with Dagrin’s father on this project with KSB helping us with her experience as a seasoned concert organizer.”

Mr. Banwo also explained that the proceeds from this concert will be applied to the Ghetto Dreamz Foundation for Young Entertainers that he is putting together while some of the proceeds will be donated to Dagrin’s estate for the welfare of the parents and siblings he left behind. “It is a charity project that I am very proud to be associated with”, Ope Banwo concludes.
