Music star, Bigiano, now wishes to be known as Bigiano Kuti. Kuti, for those who are not too conversant with the name, literally means he who refuses to die. Not to worry, the young man is still in his senses and his parents are still very much alive. He has reasons for the new addition to his name.
Last Monday, on his way from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where he missed performing at the inauguration of the new governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, Bigiano was involved in an accident that would have thrown the entertainment industry into another round of mourning. Luckily for him, except for some body pains, he survived unscathed.
He says, “The accident happened at Shagamu Junction. I was in the car with my hype man when a trailer suddenly veered off its lane and while trying to avert a collision, my car bumped into a ditch and when I came out, I just found myself being dragged under the trailer. I didn’t know what to do. I was just praying. Everything happened within seconds and before I knew it, I found myself in a nearby bush.”
He says the first thing he did was to check if the other passenger was alive before removing the air bag that had buffeted him. He tells us, “It was a close shave honestly. The car is beyond repairs. But I thank God I am still alive.”
Indeed, he should. Burgeoning entertainers such as Da Grin, CD John and Chidinma of the Koko Mansion fame were not so lucky.
