Stingomania to produce Charly Boy movie
Ope Banwo of Stingomania Entertainment is set to produce a movie on the life and career of Charly Boy Oputa, following the success of his Dagrin's biopic, ‘Ghetto Dreamz'. Banwo's decision to produce the movie was confirmed after he sealed a contract with Charles Oputa to make an epic movie on him. With permission from the entertainer to research his life and turn the research into a movie, Banwo is prepared to make an epic trilogy that will contain the struggles, mistakes, triumphs and lifestyle of Charles Oputa.
The Stingomania Boss maintained in a release that producing a movie on Charly Boy's life would mean making it into a trilogy so as to cover the seemingly three disparaging lifestyles of the entertainer. The trilogy would be three different complete movies on the entertainer who was once seen as the wayward son of a Supreme Court judge but whose father is now described as Charly Boy's father.
He explained his enthusiasm on the production of the movie, "I am highly excited and somewhat humbled to be in a position to make a movie about a living legend and icon of anti-establishment figure like Charly Boy. I am drawn to do a movie on Charly Boy because his story has all the ingredients of a mega blockbuster, while at the same time we get an opportunity to celebrate the life of an uncompromising figure who has managed to force his brand on the consciousness of Nigerians against all odds." Affirming that the movie is still in the research stage and production has not begun, the producer noted that justice would be done to the epic story of Charly Boy. The completion of the research and script, he said, would determine the format of the production.
Banwo is currently researching other biopics including ‘Asiwaju', a political biopic on Bola Tinubu and ‘Amazon', a musical drama on Onyeka Onwenu.
